Resolve to Be the Best You!

Your inter-generational virtual cafe with a Vintage Heart for the Modern 2013 Woman and Girl... is Back! And we're back with full resolve to enjoy life in a big way. Tragedies in the world during 2012, and specifically in the past few weeks took our breath away. They reminded us that today should not be wasted. They also led us to re-evaluating our lives and our focus.

We enter 2013 with a clean slate... ah... I like the sound of that.  We all do.   Let's learn from our past failures, build from our successes and allow ourselves to heal from unexpected losses.

"When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you.  When you go through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.  When you go through the fires of oppression, you will not burn up.  The flames will not consume you.  I am the Lord your God your Savior."  Isaiah 43:2-3.

Yes, our text-webisodes were on hiatus for a few months.  Of  course, iCafe Woman Moderne still kept the lights on 24-7, and our D.I.V.A.S.  (Dynamic, Industrious, Victorious, Artistic and Strong) never stopped tipping inside their favorite virtual cafe to get the latest dish in food and lifestyle.

Our little hiatus helped us to take stock and do a little re-decorating.  How do you like our new L-shaped leather sectional above.  We have two now in our great room.  So you can all be nice and comfy during our fabulous gatherings.  I'm pleased to say, we're back with our original focus intact that invited more than a few wonderful distractions to the party.

(I love this tiffany blue convertible.  It would look great with my LBD and double-stranded pearls.)

We are MODERN VINTAGE.  Say what?  It's this in a nutshell.  We're over-the-moon crazy about vintage fashions, mid-century modern architecture/decor, retro television shows... retro pop culture...games... books...movies... you name it... we love it.

Okay, I'll admit it... we even love the 1990s sitcoms.  Seinfeld, Mad About You and Friends just popped into my head.   iCafe Woman and Girl Moderne D.I.V.A.S. love retro in its purist form, but also have no problem embracing a modern twist on vintage and adding their own modern edge.

Miracles and Blessings... Kiki Kearse here!  In case you're tipping in for the first time... I'm the owner and creative mind behind iCafe Woman and Girl Moderne, a cool virtual cafe where inter-generational women, teens, tweens and girls can just be.   Happy New Year to all our regulars and first-timers!

Aren't you glad we still have a virtual place where we can just be in 2013!  Each week, I'll host, or one of my iCafe Woman Moderne D.I.V.A.S, will host our text-webisode inside our sleek Art Moderne mid-century home.

Here's our inspiration and virtual home below.  Isn't it the cat's meow?

We'll also bring you awesome mid-century modern homes from around the country and world.  The one below is a jaw-dropper.

Have I totally confused you?  Are you still not sure what Modern Vintage is?  We'll show you what we mean with our D.I.V.A.S favorite Modern Vintage picks.

1. Melissa Sweet's Tea Length Wedding Dress.
Can't you imagine a bride walking down a sandy aisle at a tropical destination -- or gliding down a country chapel aisle in this vintage-inspired dress.  I can see me wearing hot pink stilettos with it.

2.  You'll even find modern vintage at the car dealership.  The 2013 Electric Blue Mini Cooper and the 2012 Hot Chocolate Convertible Mini are reminiscent of the Karmann Ghia popular in the 1960s and 1970s.

3. Meet 2013 City Shopper Barbie from Barbie's 2013 The Barbie Look Collection.  They're the epitome of Modern Vintage.  Our first Barbie wears a shift-inspired mini with dolman sleeves in fad in the 1970s.  Our second Barbie sports a modern twist on a vintage halter design, a must-have in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

4.  Hit Television Series - Hawaii Five-0
This is one of my favorite shows, first airing from 1968 to 1980.  Today's version debuted September 2010.  Steve McGarret's son (also named Steve McGarret) now heads Hawaii Five-O, an elite crime-fighting task force, separate from HPD (Hawaii's Police Department) that reports only to the governor.

Hawaii Five-O is yesterday's show with today's modern edge.  Oh yeah... it's classic modern vintage.  Especially, when Actor Ed Aisner makes two guest appearances on the re-furbished series.  He was the original Steve McGarret nemesis then, and was still just as deadly today, but this time in a kind, old man, grandpop body.

5.  You may be surprised to learn that today's fashion-forward tweens also love modern vintage too.

Toodles for now... see your on the flip side!
